VARCO Sound

Overview

VARCO Sound is a generative sound service from NC AI, the AI company spun out of Korean game publisher NCSOFT. You describe a sound, upload an image, or upload a video, and it analyzes the scene and generates matching sound effects and background music. Results come as separate tracks rather than one mixed file, so you can adjust or replace individual sounds.

The full version launched in September 2026 after a beta that began in January. It added a Sound Agent that runs generation and editing through chat ("make it more metallic"), automatic volume mixing across tracks and clips up to 60 seconds. Besides the browser app there is a Windows/macOS desktop app for dragging sounds into a DAW and a free Unity plugin, listed as a Unity Verified Solution, for generating sounds inside the editor. An MCP server is listed as coming soon.

New users get 2,000 free credits for generation and editing. Paid plan prices are not shown on the public pages we could read, so none are listed here. The desktop app is a free download but needs a paid plan; the Unity plugin is free and needs a VARCO API key. Generated sounds can be used in games and commercial content, but the scope of commercial use and ownership varies by plan.

Sign in at sound.varco.ai and try a text prompt or upload a short clip with your free credits. Unity users can follow the VARCO API docs to install the plugin with an API key.
