## Overview

Effigy is an MIT-licensed desktop app that makes game-ready 3D assets and 2D sprites from a prompt or a reference image, entirely on your own PC. A sentence becomes four concept images, then one of two 3D engines (Microsoft TRELLIS.2 for Fast, Pixal3D for Faithful) builds the mesh. Effigy then repairs and decimates it, UV-unwraps it and re-bakes a full PBR texture set.

For characters it fits a 52-joint humanoid skeleton (or one of eight creature templates), skins it, and animates it with 178 CC0 clips, motion from a sentence or motion from a video. Rigged characters can be rendered as side-view pixel-art sprite sheets for Godot or Unreal Paper2D. Everything runs offline with no accounts or credits, every bundled model allows commercial use of its output, and an MCP server lets coding agents drive the same workflow.

## Key features

- Text or image to 3D with two engines (TRELLIS.2 Fast, Pixal3D Faithful)
- Mesh repair, triangle or quad decimation, UV unwrap and PBR re-bake
- Automatic 52-joint humanoid rig plus eight creature templates
- Animation from 178 CC0 clips, a text prompt or a video
- Exports for Godot, Unreal (LODs, collision), Unity, GLB/USDZ, OBJ and STL/3MF
- Pixel-art sprite sheets for Godot SpriteFrames and Unreal Paper2D
- Local MCP server for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI

## Use it for

- Turn concept art into a rigged, animated character for a Godot or Unreal prototype
- Batch-generate props from a folder of images without paying per generation
- Render a 3D character as a pixel-art fighter sprite set for a 2D game

## Pricing

Free and open source under the MIT licence (the Blender scripts are GPL-3.0). There are no accounts or credits; the cost is your own hardware: an NVIDIA RTX 40 or 50 series card with 16 GB of VRAM (12 GB works for the Fast engine, best effort; an AMD RX 9070 runs the Fast chain only since v0.2.0), 32 GB of RAM recommended and 70 to 160 GB of disk for models.

## Getting started

Download the latest Effigy-win64.zip from the GitHub Releases page, unblock and unzip it to a short path like C:\Effigy, then double-click run.bat. It downloads Python, PyTorch, Blender and the models you choose into its own folder; SETUP.md covers the Hugging Face login for gated models.
